iPhone OS 4.0 Updates
Right after the launch of iPad, a tablet category device, Apple came up with OS 4.0. For the last few years, we have seen Apple launching various devices rather than Operating Systems. As the subsequent move, OS 4.0 has already achieved much hype because it has taken a plunge into other fields.
There were huge speculations and predictions regarding OS 4.0; what can the new version of iPhone OS bring to us?
Apple previewed iPhone OS 4.0. According to Apple, iPhone OS 4.0. is the fourth major release of the world’s most advanced mobile Operating Systems. From the very first Sneak peak of iOS 4, people had expectations that the new version of OS will make their dream a reality.
When it was finally released in beta version, we found an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) with over 1,500 new Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and over 100 new features including multitasking, folders, a unified inbox, deeper Enterprise support, and an iPhone version of iBooks reader and online iBookstore etc.
Other new features of iOS 4 include 5X zoom, persistent Wi-Fi, tap to focus in video recorder, customizable wallpapers for home screens, Bluetooth keyboard support, text messages search, spell check, larger fonts for email, texts and alerts etc.
For the third party apps, iOS provides multitasking option while preserving battery life. Foreground app performance is almost hard to pin down. Although OS4’s new multitasking feature let users quickly move between apps (
iPhone App developers too can use multitasking services to easily add multitasking features to their apps), this feature is still elusive to the users any way.
iOS 4.1 is about to launch this fall by the summer of 2010. This future version would come along with Full Support for Bluetooth AVRCP, support for skipping titles back and forth with headset buttons, Check Spelling from the Keyboard, P2P App Support etc.
